Why we use bio acetate
Cellulose acetate is a highly durable and flexible material most commonly used in higher caliber eyewear. It’s derived from renewable sources like cotton and wood pulp—but it typically requires synthetic plasticizers (like diethyl phthalates or DEP) to achieve its final form.
DEP is a petroleum-based compound which is why we use an alternative: bio acetate.
Our bio acetate maintains the clarity and performance of traditional acetate while minimizing toxicity. It’s made using a bio-based polymer and non-toxic plasticizer (with less than 1% DEP), and manufactured under strict quality control.
We source this material intentionally—because sustainability isn’t an add-on, it’s built into every frame.
